• That’s my fam. Between the family I grew up in, the family I have, and the family that became mine, I’m a lucky duck.

  • A singer-songwriter, sign language interpreter, and elementary school teacher walk into a bar… and handed me podcasting equipment. Thanks, TMH.

  • Reading is my time alone and also my community. My community is filled with super cool people who read, listen to books, talk about reading, want to start reading, go to book readings, love bookstores, frequent the library, send me pictures of their books, argue about books, buy books, borrow books, and love reading. Those are my people.

  • Reading is my escape. It makes me happy. It captures my sadness. Reading makes me hopeful. It makes me question and wonder. Reading makes me Google stuff at 3 am. It makes me think. It can make me both laugh and cry, just pages apart. Reading makes me question my values. It reaffirms them too. It takes me to a different world but makes me feel at home.

Reading is all those things and so much more. So, thank you to all the authors that do the hard part and bring their stories to the world. I am so thankful.

I would like to thank my editor and publisher. Oh wait, I didn’t write a book. Anyway…

What kind of concept would this be without me writing my own acknowledgments?

The exercise in writing acknowledgments made me realize how very difficult it is. There are so many that have been a part of my journey of reading. I am infinitely lucky for that.

  • Design

“Hey, Melissa. Hope all is well. So, I need a logo for a podcast about books.”

That’s basically the text I sent her. Within a couple of days, she had taken that statement and transformed it into a beautiful collection of graphics. Check her out here.

  • Photograph

Doesn’t everyone have a personal photographer? Fine, I don’t have one either but it sure helps when one of your BFFs is an amazing photographer. Most pictures of me with a book were taken by Kristin.

Visit her website but don’t steal my friend.

  • Launch

Hey, I have a great idea for a podcast! And then two years later, here I am. Kicking it off was hard.

Having a podcast producer got me going.

There’s more to the book than just the story.

Amy, thank you for reminding me of the importance of books, whether they are happy, sad, a bit spicy, or give us a whole new outlook on dolphins.
